With an automatic, the Sky Red Line hustles its way to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds, a time that betters the manual Solstice GXP's 5.6 seconds. The good news is that, despite the turn-off of an automatic-equipped sports car, the performance numbers of this Sky Red Line should be seriously eyeballed because in our hands it out-accelerates a mechanically identical Pontiac Solstice GXP equipped with a stick shift.
These can be de-activated with the push of a button for those who like to drive on edge. Helping the cause are a limited slip differential and GM’s Stabilitrack traction and electronic stability control (ESC) system which are standard on the Redline edition. Its precise steering and absolute lack of body roll means it can be thrown into corners at high speed with the faintest hint of slippage. With a low center of gravity and wheels set right out in each of its four corners, the car handles like a go-kart. One of the best things about driving the Saturn Sky Redline is its immaculate balance and handling. 0-60 times are in line with the Porsche Cayman at just under 6 seconds. The result is 260 horespower in a car that tips the scales at less then 3000 lbs. The Redline turbo features GM’s 2 liter DOHC Ecotec in-line four-cylinder mated to a dual-scroll turbocharger. THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD IT REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO SOME VERY MINOR WEAR THAT DEVELOPED WHERE THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW WAS RUBBING IT. ALTHOUGH I RECOMMEND DRIVING THIS CAR TOP-DOWN AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE IT IS NICE TO KNOW THAT THE BLACK CONVERTIBLE IS IN VIRTUALLY BRAND NEW CONDITION. REAR SPOILER ADDS TO THE GREAT STANCE AND SPORTY LOOK. FRONT FENDERS HAVE MOLDED SCOOPS GIVING IT A EUROPEAN FLARE. THE FRONT END IS AGGRESSIVE WITH NICE CHROME ACCENTS ON THE HOOD. IF YOU HAVE SEEN THE PONTIAC SOLSTICE YOU WILL NOTE SEVERAL STYLNG DIFFERENCES THAT CLEARLY GIVE THE SKY AN EDGE IN LOOKS. THERE MAY BE A FEW VERY TINY ROCK CHIPS BUT OTHERWISE THE BODY IS CLOSE TO SHOWROOM NEW. THIS CAR HAS NEVER HAD ANY ACCIDENTS OR PAINTWORK AND IS IN NEAR FLAWLESS CONDITION. THIS MIDNIGHT BLUE REDLINE TURBO WAS TRULY PAMPERED BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER AND ALWAYS GARAGE KEPT AND FREQUENTLY DETAILED. THERE ARE QUITE A FEW LARGE IMAGES THAT MAY TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO LOAD BUT IT WILL BE WORTH THE WAIT…ENJOY! WITH JUST 35,500 GENTLE MILES ON IT THIS SKY PERFORMS AWESOME!! THIS CAR WAS METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED BY A TRUE CAR GUY WHO ALWAYS HAD IT DEALER SERVICED AND CHANGED THE OIL RELIGIOUSLY WITH MOBIL 1 SYNTHETIC EVERY 3-4000 MILES. HE ENJOYED THE CAR IMMENSELY AND ONLY DECIDED TO SELL IT TO MOVE ON TO HIS NEXT TOY. HE WAS LIVING IN MASSACHUSETTS AT THE TIME AND HE DROVE IT ALL SPRING AND SUMMER BEFORE RETIRING TO FLORIDA WHERE IT HAS SPENT ITS ENTIRE LIFE SINCE THEN. WE RECENTLY ACQUIRED THIS REDLINE TURRBO FROM THE SECOND OWNER WHO BOUGHT THE CAR IN SPRING 2008 WITH JUST A FEW THOUSAND MILES ON IT.
